This gag is sort of an old standard in the comedy world. As far as I can see, there's really nothing wrong with putting my own slight variation on it, although I do know some people who might get upset if I went and did that to their car. Not that I ever do it to the one I drive, it's got one of those cool remote-control locks. Yay for remote-control things.
